Qualcomm Releases Simplified Version of Snapdragon 8 Elite Processor
Qualcomm has announced a new model of its Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, identified by the code SM8750-3-AB. This chip is a simplified version of the more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite (SM8750-AB), with a reduced number of cores. Instead of eight cores, there are now seven — one Performance core has been removed.
Changes in Performance
The new version of the processor retains the two high-performance cores with a frequency of up to 4.32 GHz, just like the original model. However, the loss of one core is unlikely to significantly affect overall performance in everyday tasks. Any noticeable changes are likely to appear only in synthetic tests (benchmarks), where the reduction in cores may cause a small decrease in speed.
Pricing and Availability
The reduction in core count is likely to result in a lower purchasing cost for Qualcomm’s partners. If this trend is confirmed, we can expect more affordable smartphones with Snapdragon 8 Elite processors in the future. This could make high-performance devices more accessible to a wider audience.
Be Cautious When Buying
However, it's important to note that the chip with seven cores will carry the same commercial name as the more powerful version. Therefore, buyers should carefully review the specifications of any device before purchase to avoid acquiring a smartphone with the downgraded processor that may not meet their expectations.
