Changan Retests CS55 Plus Seats

Changan Automobile conducted additional tests on the seats of its CS55 Plus and Uni-S models in response to reports from Russian media questioning their reliability. The tests were organized promptly, and the results were shared in an open letter by Changan Motors Rus.

Crash Test Results

Changan conducted two rounds of crash tests simulating a rear collision at 25 km/h, adhering to E-NCAP international standards.

• Test findings:

- No deformations, cracks, or other damages were detected in the front seats.

- After the crash tests, the seats were dismantled to confirm compliance with safety standards.

• Additional measures:

- Photo and video documentation accompanied the testing process.

Analysis of the CS55 Plus Accident

Changan Motors Rus also investigated the circumstances of the September 26, 2024, accident involving the CS55 Plus:

• An analysis of the metal frame of the driver’s seat revealed it successfully absorbed the impact during the collision. While it sustained some damage, it did not break into two parts.
• Visible marks on the broken areas suggest the upper part of the seat was deliberately rocked back and forth after the accident, possibly for an insurance claim.

In the open letter, Changan Motors Rus emphasized:

• Product quality: The seats and other components supplied by the international company Magna meet Changan’s reliability and safety standards.
• Accident circumstances: The vehicle owner did not seek medical attention, and eyewitnesses from the dealership reported that he appeared uninjured after the collision.
