NakMo reports: Genesis unveils X Gran Equator Concept SUV in retrofuturistic style
South Korean automaker Genesis has announced a new SUV concept — X Gran Equator Concept, which could become a serious competitor to the Mercedes-Benz G-Class and Land Rover Defender. The official premiere will take place at the New York Auto Show, reports Carscoops.
A look into the future through the prism of the past
The concept is made in a retrofuturistic style: it combines classic forms with futuristic solutions. Visually, the car stands out:
- 🔹 Simple geometric shapes, inspired by the design of the past;
- 🔹 Light stripes instead of conventional headlights - long lighting lines are stretched in front and behind, completely replacing optics;
- 🔹 Minimalistic interior, devoid of traditional multimedia systems.
Interior without a screen, but with individuality
The interior space of the X Gran Equator Concept demonstrates a move away from digital abundance towards controlled minimalism:
- 🔘 Instead of a large touchscreen - four round screens, individually configurable;
- 🎛️ Most of the controls are physical switches and buttons;
- ❌ No multimedia system, which emphasizes the philosophy of "driver and road".
What is known about the technical part
Genesis has not officially disclosed the technical specifications, but the concept is expected to be fully electric. Production of the X Gran Equator Concept is not yet confirmed, but the company is considering the possibility of launching the model as a direct competitor to the electric versions of the Mercedes G-Class and Defender.
In addition, individual design solutions of the concept may be used in future production Genesis models.
NakMo's Opinion
The Genesis X Gran Equator Concept is more than just a design experiment. It's a manifesto for the aesthetics of the future, where technology doesn't dominate, but rather complements the driver's experience. If a production version does appear, the premium SUV market could be in for an interesting twist.
