Editorial team of NakMo reports on a ChatGPT update that is changing the game in the world of AI.
OpenAI has officially announced a new feature for ChatGPT — the service now remembers all user chats, not just the current session. This update was revealed by the company's CEO, Sam Altman, in his post on 𝕏 (formerly Twitter).
What’s New: All Conversations Become Part of Your Personal History
Previously, ChatGPT only considered information from the current session. However, the new update allows for:
- Automatically saving all past conversations, which makes the AI responses more accurate and personalized;
- Users can request reminders of previous discussions, for example: “What did we talk about last weekend?”;
- The system actively adapts to your preferences, improving the quality of interaction with the AI.
“Now [ChatGPT] can refer back to all your past conversations! [This update brings us] closer to AI systems that recognize you throughout your life,”
— noted Altman.
How the ChatGPT Memory System Works
The memory feature is enabled by default for users subscribed to ChatGPT Plus and Pro. Specifically:
- You can disable chat saving in the settings if you prefer that your information is not retained;
- In temporary chats, the feature is inactive, ensuring additional privacy;
- Users have the ability to update or delete saved data at their discretion.
Availability of the New Feature
🔹 The updated memory is already available for subscribers of Plus and Pro.
🔹 In the coming weeks, the feature will be rolled out to Team, Enterprise, and Edu categories.
⚠️ Currently, the update is temporarily unavailable in the following regions: the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein — OpenAI is working to comply with local privacy requirements.
NakMo's Take: A Step Toward True Personalization
The editorial team at NakMo believes that this update is one of the most ambitious steps in the evolution of artificial intelligence. The new feature makes ChatGPT:
- Smarter and more adaptive,
- A true personal digital assistant,
- And it enables users to maintain a continuous dialogue with the AI, drawing on their entire history of interactions.
