Mark Gurman, the renowned insider from Bloomberg, has shared new details about the upcoming 11th-generation iPad. According to his information, the device will be equipped with the Apple A17 Pro chip, which is already used in the new iPad mini 7th generation, released in the fall of 2024. This is the same chip found in the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, promising a significant leap in performance.
According to Gurman, the iPad 11th generation will support Apple Intelligence, a new platform focused on artificial intelligence. This means the tablet will be even smarter and more adaptable. Additionally, the new model will feature 8GB of RAM, double the amount found in the current iPad 10, which has only 4GB. Such an upgrade is necessary to fully support the new AI platform and maintain high performance with multitasking.
The new iPads, with the code names J481 and J482, will offer significantly improved capabilities compared to previous models. For example, the iPad 10 is equipped with the A14 chip and 4GB of RAM, making the iPad 11th generation with A17 Pro and 8GB of RAM a major step forward.
The iPad 11 is expected to be unveiled in the spring of 2025, possibly alongside the new iPhone SE, which is rumored to feature the A18 chip, similar to the one in the upcoming iPhone 16.
