At the CES 2025 event, AMD introduced two new Ryzen 9 processors, which, according to the company, are the perfect choice for gamers and content creators. The flagship model, Ryzen 9 9950X3D, and the simplified version, 9900X3D, promise outstanding performance in gaming and graphic design tasks.
Performance at a New Level
Both new processors feature the Zen 5 architecture, which provides a significant boost in performance compared to previous generations. The Ryzen 9 9950X3D comes with 16 cores and 32 threads with a base clock speed of 4.3 GHz, which can boost up to 5.7 GHz. The Ryzen 9 9900X3D, on the other hand, has 12 cores and 24 threads, with a base clock speed of 4.4 GHz (up to 5.5 GHz in Boost mode).
Notably, the processors also have a large cache—144 MB for the 9950X3D and 140 MB for the 9900X3D, which significantly affects data processing speed.
Ultra-Fast Gaming Performance
According to AMD's internal testing, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D shows an 8% higher performance in gaming compared to the Ryzen 7950X3D, and up to 58% better performance in popular games like Counter-Strike 2. Compared to the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K processor, the new Ryzen 9 demonstrates up to 64% better performance.
Additionally, AMD claims that these processors are suitable not only for gaming but also for professional work with graphics, video, and 3D modeling. In tests using programs like Blender, Corona, Cinebench, and Adobe Photoshop, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D showed excellent results, making it a great choice for content creators.
Power Consumption and Availability
An important aspect is the power consumption of the new processors. The Ryzen 9 9950X3D consumes 170W, while the 9900X3D consumes 120W, which is a good indicator for chips of such high performance.
The processors are expected to be available for sale in March 2025, though their prices have not been disclosed yet. With the launch of these new chips, AMD continues to strengthen its position in the high-performance processor market, intensifying competition with Intel.
